  • Description: We are seeking an experienced and creative sound engineer/sound designer to help mix our daily news magazine Crosscurrents. The main duties will be to mix feature stories from scratch; shorten stories that have already been mixed; cut interviews; track reporters and our show host Hana Baba; mix the show, itself; and contribute your own ideas to the overall sound of Crosscurrents. This is an independent contract position that requires being on site at KALW MondayTuesdayWednesday, and Thursday during show production hours.
  • Part-time story editor

    • Description: The KALW News team is looking for an experienced radio journalism story editor to work on our daily news magazine Crosscurrents. Your primary job will be to work with journalists and storytellers, help them craft reporting plans, follow through with advice during their reporting process, provide insightful edits, and help deliver memorable stories.This is an independent contract position for 20 hours a week, beginning July 1, 2017.
  • Stringer for education beat reporting

    • Description: The KALW News team is looking for an experienced radio reporter to provide stories and Q&As about education for our daily news magazine Crosscurrents and to produce spots for our new daily newscasts. You will be responsible for reporting one feature (at least six-minutes long and sonically rich) per month, one Q&A per month, and an average of one short (less than two-minute long and informational) spot per month, as needed.
  • Part-time Sights & Sounds producer/engineer

    • Description: KALW’s Sights & Sounds is seeking a multi-talented producer/engineer to join the team. Sights & Sounds is KALW’s arts reporting project which features artists and creative thinkers from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, with a special focus on those that are underrepresented in mainstream media. We’re looking for a creative, experienced radio producer with great writing and mixing skills, who can work well independently as well as collaboratively, and who is excited to celebrate the artistic richness of the Bay Area. This is an independent contract position for approximately 12 hours a week, with a mix of onsite and remote work possible.
