Associate Producer, Pushkin Industries- New York, NY

SUMMARY

We are looking for an associate producer to work on various Pushkin shows and projects. The associate producer will play a critical production role from the earliest stages of research and development to ongoing production, and will be expected to multi-task accordingly. This position requires solid recording and editing skills, a good nose for narrative, and an ability to keep sources, files, and other production resources super organized. The associate producer will work closely with the Managing Producer and other team members to create compelling, informative, and innovative programming that has become the hallmark of Pushkin projects. The position is based in Los Angeles, CA.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Researching and gathering archival materials

  • Interviewing and/or pre-interviewing sources

  • Editing interviews

  • Gathering ambience and other scene tape

  • Booking guests, stringers, and studios

  • Prepping tape for table reads

  • Putting together rough mixes of episodes in ProTools

  • Attending and sometimes running the board for studio recording sessions

  • Preparing scripts for legal vetting

  • Fact checking

  • Creating and maintaining production spreadsheets including show summaries, production schedule (airdates), and other key milestones

  • Lending general editorial feedback throughout the production process

  • Assisting Director of Operations with tracking show deliverables including legal review documents, clip licensing (or fair use), song use, and release forms

  • Attending creative calls with development and production teams and clients

  • Other responsibilities, as needed

SKILLS + QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • At least 4 years media and/or journalistic experience

  • At least 3 years audio production experience using ProTools (or willingness to leave your current DAW behind and learn PT)

  • Demonstrated agility with audio editing and creativity with sound design

  • Experience working with talent, creating host prep, and writing show scripts

  • Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills

  • Highest standards for journalistic integrity and ethics

  • Understanding of the podcast landscape and a sense of how to innovate within that landscape

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects on deadline and work across geographically-dispersed teams

This is a full-time staff position, based in Los Angeles. Compensation will comprise a competitive base salary, full benefits (medical, dental, vision), and an annual performance bonus. Pushkin employees receive four weeks of paid vacation, including two weeks every August where the entire company closes so that everyone can truly relax and recharge.
