Introduction to Sound & Recording
Thursday, July 10th, 6:30 - 9:30 pm AND Saturday, July 12th, 10 am - 4 pm

This course covers the basic physics of sound, signal flow, gain structure and an introduction to the use of the technology in recording and the production of audio. Taught by Terri Winston.

Microphones
Tuesday, July 15th, 6:30 - 9:30 pm
$50 Members/$75 Non-Members   Register

This course describes the different types of microphones used in audio, how they work, what makes them sound different and includes demonstrations and comparisons. Taught by Terri Winston.

Introduction to Digital Audio & Computer Recording
Tuesday, July 29th, 6:30 - 9:30 pm AND Saturday, August 2nd, 10 am - 4 pm

This course introduces the theory and principles of digital recording, different types of audio interfaces, software and digital audio workstations, digital audio editing and an introduction to Digidesign Pro Tools. Taught by Terri Winston.

Basic Audio Wiring & Soldering
Saturday, August 9th, 10 am - 4 pm
$100 Members/$150 Non-Members  Register

This course focuses on proper soldering techniques for connections and repairs. Students will build their own microphone cable and also learn about different types of cables, connections and jacks and how they are wired. The types of tools required will also be covered. All the necessary tools and materials are provided and students will leave with a high quality, microphone cable they constructed themselves.Taught by Terri Winston.

WAM Corps Emphasis Certificates (Starting Fall 2008)

WAM will begin to roll out additional training programs that will expand on the Basic Skills Certificate and offer specialization in:

  1. Recording Engineering & Music Production
  2. Sound for Picture: Location, Production and Post-Production Sound
  3. Live Sound Reinforcement
  4. Online Radio and Podcasting
