Soldering Basic Audio Connections
Make Your Own Microphone Cable!

This course focuses on proper soldering techniques for connections and repairs. Students will build their own microphone cable and learn about different types of cables, connections and jacks and how they are wired. The types of tools required will also be covered. All the necessary tools and materials are provided, and students will leave with a high-quality microphone cable that they constructed themselves.Taught by Terri Winston.


Contact Microphones and Sound Art
Make Your Own Contact Microphone!

This class describes contact (piezoelectric) microphones and the interesting ways they can be used in the realm of sound art and sound design. All the necessary tools and materials are provided, and students will leave with a contact microphone that they constructed themselves. Basic soldering skills are necessary. It is highly recommended that students attend the "Soldering Basic Audio Connections Class"; see above. Taught by Kadet Kuhne.

Guitar players: Do you know how to create your own signature sound? Engineers: Do you want to learn how to help a guitarist set up her rig? Whether you're a player or a producer, this workshop will show you everything you need to know to develop a unique guitar sound--everything from tuning tips to shaping tone with effects to miking and amping techniques that really rock. Live, hands-on demonstrations will put you right in the session. Bonus! Take home a free Mogami guitar cable. Taught by Terri Winston.

Indie Artist 101
Plan for Success!

Being a successful independent artist takes a lot more than being a great musi¬cian. Learn from a veteran recording artist what it really takes to put your music on the map, including tips for songwriting, forming a plan, forming a band (and keeping it together), rehearsing (yes, you need to rehearse!), booking gigs, marketing yourself the right way, and working with booking agents, talent buyers, managers and producers. The class will also cover essential equipment for both studio and live performance, and tips for getting the most out of both home and studio recording. Taught by Terri Winston.

This class is for you...
Incorporating music into film can seem daunting, both technically and creatively; understanding the technology and tools is the first step toward freeing your artistry. Using an actual professional, original film score as an example, we'll demonstrate, step-by-step, how music is incorporated into a visual medium. No experience necessary. Taught by Terri Winston
