Sharon Larson, a professional sound/mixer boom op that has worked on shows for NBC, Lifetime, A&E, AMC, ESPN, and various commercials will be hosting a workshop at a "S.T.E.M. Out" conference at The College of Western Idaho.
EYH conferences nurture girls' interest in science and math courses to encourage them to consider careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. Students will learn how to record instruments to a 4-track, get a little taste of live sound engineering, and recreate the dialogue and sound effects for a short video clip.read more
Consists of 8 sessions(7 Thursday evenings and one Saturday day) in WAM's studio and covers the following outline:
Girls on the Mic will be partnering with United for Success Academy from Oakland under their Citizen Schools Apprenticeship program. WAM will host 15 middle-school aged girls at our studio every Thursday for ten weeks to explore careers in sound engineering.
WAM will be holding Girls on the Mic workshops for middle school-aged girls (12-14 years old) at Thomas Edison Charter Academy every Wednesday afternoon for five weeks, concluding in a field trip to the WAM studio.read more
