WAM Master Class: Anatomy of a Mix

Experience the details and amount of labor involved in a professional mix session. This class will demonstrate how a mix evolves from the original tracks to a finished mix.

Topics covered:

  • Process and order of events
  • The importance & techniques of proper editing
  • The importance of understanding song structure and song elements and their effect on a mix.
  • The role of processing (EQ, dynamic and time-based): plug-ins and outboard
  • Referencing other mixes and monitors
  • How to work with clients and interpret mix notes
  • Training your ears

This class assumes some recording experience and use of processing such as EQ, compression and time based effects. Taught by Terri Winston
