WAM PHOTOGRAPHY INTERN

Women's Audio Mission, a San Francisco-based nonprofit organization that advances women and girls in music production and the recording arts, is now receiving applications for a Photography Intern for a two-month internship program at WAM’s studio, the only professional recording studio built and run by women in the world.

WAM is seeking motivated individuals to document our classes and events through photography and build their photography portfolio. WAM classes and events include: Girls on the Mic (action-packed classes teaching middle and high-school age girls music production and the recording arts skills and technology); adult classes; recording sessions; special events at WAM (including open recording sessions, artist talks, etc.); Local Sirens: Women in Music series performances at local venues; and off-site WAM events.

REQUIREMENTS:

·       Must have access to your own camera. Our studio does include Adobe Photoshop.

·       Able to commit to a schedule of one day a week (Tuesday-Thursday) to photograph and take video of classes and recording sessions and occasional events in the evening and on weekends. We expect punctuality and superior attendance during these scheduled times.

·       Able to respond to e-mails and phone calls from WAM within 24 hours.

·       Minimum one year of study of photography or equivalent preferred.

·       Ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.

·       Proficiency with computers.

·       Commitment to the mission of Women’s Audio Mission.

Essential functions of the position may require use of a telephone, work at a standard computer, standing for over an hour, reaching, bending, and the ability to lift and carry 30 pounds.

Desirable Skills:

1.    Experience with Adobe Photoshop.

2.    Experience shooting events and people.

WAM STUDIO INTERNSHIP

Now accepting WAM Studio Internship Applications!

Applications are due on or before August 5th, 2016.

 

Women's Audio Mission selects interns 2-3 times per year. It is an application process that is announced to WAM's membership. We choose 4-8 interns a year out of a pool of applicants from all over the country. NOTE: The selection process requires an onsite interview before we choose an intern applicant if the applicant is located in the Bay Area. Outside of the Bay Area, we require an interview via Skype.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

·       Must be a current WAM member.

·       Able to commit to 15 hours per week for at least 6 months. This will be a set schedule and we expect punctuality and superior attendance during these scheduled times.

·       Able to respond to e-mails and phone calls from WAM within 24 hours.

·       In addition to regularly scheduled hours, you must be able to commit to working at most of WAM’s events and workshops. These are usually in the evening or on weekends.

·       Minimum one year of study of audio technology, recording arts or equivalent preferred.

·       Willing and able to perform basic office tasks and facility cleaning chores.

·       Ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.

·       Proficiency with Apple and PC computers.

·       Commitment to the mission of Women’s Audio Mission.

·       Excellent people, verbal and writing skills.

 

Essential functions of the position may require use of a telephone, work at a standard computer, navigating several flights of stairs, standing for over an hour, reaching, bending, using a soldering iron and electrical test equipment and the ability to lift and carry 30 pounds.

 

Desirable Skills:

1.    Fluent in Pro Tools HD.

2.    Experience using large format consoles.

3.    Soldering Skills.
