Happy WAMiversary to us! We held a 10th Anniversary Party at El Rio in the Mission district where our studio is located this past weekend. The event was listed as one of the 7 must-see concerts of the week according to the San Francisco Bay Guardian.
The Bay Bridged, a popular music and art blog in the Bay Area, visited WAM to film interviews with staff to mark WAM's 10th anniversary this year. The team dropped in on a Girls on the Mic class (WAM's youth program) and toured our studio.

Our Girls on the Mic schedule is seriously packed this spring. We just finished up two very successful events at the Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) conferences at UC Berkeley and Skyline College. EYH is a nonprofit that holds conferences around the country that expose middle school girls to careers in science, technology, and math.

January has been filled with Girls on the Mic workshops. Kelley Coyne, our newest Girls on the Mic Coordinator, and her indefatiguable WAM volunteers have held Girls on the Mic classes for middle school and high school-aged girls from Thomas Edison Charter Academy, Holy Names High School, the Expanding Your Horizons Conference in Solano County, and will finish out the month by starting a series of classes with female youth from Citizen Schools. Check out some of the highlights below - we've been really lucky and excited to work with such enthusiastic, bright youth!
WAM is excited to announce our first upcoming classes for 2013!
WAM was excited to have Gerry Bassermann back in the WAM studio last week doing a workshop on the latest release of Reason (version 6.5).
WAM is delighted to have some awesome new software and gear in the studio thanks to the generosity of our industry supporters. Here's the rundown of the newest additions to the WAM studio! We're really excited to start using all of it.
SoundToys donated the Native Effects and TDM Effects to our studio. We've already used SPEED in one session and we're loving it. We can't wait to explore all of the other plug-ins included in both of these fabulous bundles. Thank you, SoundToys!
We were excited to be able to offer our Level One Certificate Course yet again this fall. We had an outpouring of interest in the class and were at full capacity. The students learned all about the science of sound, signal flow, microphones, digital audio, and even learned how to solder! Check out some candid shots from the class below.
WAM is still reeling from the madness that is AES! But we love it.
This AES, we hosted a panel on the "Women of Professional Concert Sound", participated in a panel on studios built for educational purposes, hosted our biannual WAM Happy Hour Party at 111 Minna (with over 400 people!), and ran the WAM booth all three days of AES.
