Michelle Barry, a WAM Member located in Australia and a professional sound engineer working in Sydney, London, and New York, will be featured on an audio panel at Entech Connect, Australia's Entertainment Technology and Installation Show for Pro Audio, Audio Visual, Lighting, Integration and Staging.
The ultra talented indie songstress, Lia Rose, performed a benefit concert at Women's Audio Mission last week through Giving Stage, a virtual venue that raises money for social and environmental change. We raised $1,600 through Giving Stage, enough to help train 15 more under-served middle school girls next semester, and Rose put on a fabulous and intimate performance.
Happy WAMiversary to us! We held a 10th Anniversary Party at El Rio in the Mission district where our studio is located this past weekend. The event was listed as one of the 7 must-see concerts of the week according to the San Francisco Bay Guardian.
The Bay Bridged, a popular music and art blog in the Bay Area, visited WAM to film interviews with staff to mark WAM's 10th anniversary this year. The team dropped in on a Girls on the Mic class (WAM's youth program) and toured our studio.

Our Girls on the Mic schedule is seriously packed this spring. We just finished up two very successful events at the Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) conferences at UC Berkeley and Skyline College. EYH is a nonprofit that holds conferences around the country that expose middle school girls to careers in science, technology, and math.

January has been filled with Girls on the Mic workshops. Kelley Coyne, our newest Girls on the Mic Coordinator, and her indefatiguable WAM volunteers have held Girls on the Mic classes for middle school and high school-aged girls from Thomas Edison Charter Academy, Holy Names High School, the Expanding Your Horizons Conference in Solano County, and will finish out the month by starting a series of classes with female youth from Citizen Schools.
